Galerne First visit
Another mad trip to look at a boat but this one took me to Bandal in the south of France and so with flights booked through the UK I set of for another boat visit.
Flying into Marseilles from Stansted wasn’t a bad trip at all and after a stressful trip to the hotel in Aix en Provence in the poring rain at night when tired things started to calm down a little.
The boat well what can I say she is the First 27.7S that was newer than the last one I looked at and even have the “S” to prove it but this did give a few nice to haves such as a real fridge rather than just the cool box and two ring burner instead of the one! The fixed keel reduces the draft some 30cm which is quite a lot and would allow me to go into places the older version wouldn’t have.
I met up with Thiery on the pontoon so he could show me around Galerne – I have a good look around and found small things that would need addressing but nothing major. I did the normal opening of the engine compartment and feeling the engine temp before even bothering to start her up but she started almost before I had the key fully turned which was nice and she purred quietly and very contently.
I spent over an hour going through as much of the boat as I could before finally leaving with a good feeling, Thiery I have to say was very good at what he did as he very much left me alone to look and play but was always there to answer all of my questions.
On the flight back I had already decided she was worth getting surveyed and so started the next step!
