The trip begins – 29th August 2020
The trip to the boat once we managed to get going wasn’t actually that bad having had our Covid19 tests done a couple of days before and filled out all the paperwork needed to transit through Athens and then to enter France.
We picked up a hitch hiker in Paramali on the way to the airport who proved to be good company on the way apart from a few wayward ideas such as getting the train from Marseille airport to Toulon as the coast line will be stunning to see, which in sure it would have been in daylight!
Toulon itself we hardly got to see because the boat was stored at Quo Vadis in the old dock area that I guess is the same as most dock areas in the world, a little run down and in need of some TLC. This said the boat was safe and sound and had been looked after well enough.
Getting Galerne ready for her 1500 nautical mile trip to her new home. Although she is in good shape there are always jobs that need doing on a boat and especially before you take on such a trip. The boat once in Cyprus will be used for the racing and really not much more than that but the delivery trip requires a few extras that I would otherwise not bother with but with safety in mind. This said I’ve been buying bits in the UK that I would be picking up on the way through but with this Covid19 rubbish affecting the world plans change and so our good friend Ruby collated and boxed everything and we arranged for a courier to ship it to the boat!
