The Box – 26th August 2020
We wanted the box to arrive on Monday but we had pickup issues in the UK and so the expected delivery seemed to be pushed to Thursday which I have to say wasn’t impressive but yesterday we were told it

had arrived and Thierry which was a great relief and so thank you Daniel from “Deadline Couriers” for such a good service. The unwrapping was like Christmas with so much stuff from new “Team-O” life jackets which are amazing with tethers knives and Lume-On bladder lights should the worst happen, a B&G V50 VHF/ AIS to allow us to see other ships! Rightly or wrongly I’ve decided that for the majority of our sailing once in and around Cyprus we will not have a requirement for a transponder i.e. sending out a signal for other’s to see us and yes for the delivery trip it would be a “nice to have” but at more than double to money I couldn’t warrant it. I’ve also got a full but small solar panel charging system that needs to be fitted
and working before we can really leave as our fuel capacity will not allow us to do the trip without multiple stops which are not intended the other box items included Courtesy flags for everywhere we “might” or should pass as well as a Q Flag although we shouldn’t need this if all goes to plan as we will only be within Europe! The only other flag is our new Red Ensign as I’ve reregistered her to Small Ships Register in the UK which should give us less hassles into the future than actually having a Cypriot flag which would mean a lot more issues, not least the fact that because it is a yacht and not a tanker it needed to be in Cyprus before I could reflag it! The box has now given us some work to do to make install the Radio and Solar all of which I think I can do quite easily but we will see…
