Victualling and Sight Seeing – 31st August 2020

We’ve been doing a few recce runs through the supermarkets to see what we want to eat and came across some ambient temperature TV dinners and although we don’t have a TV we thought because these are cook in simmering water they seemed worth trying. We’ve now tried two which one can only say were amazing so today we are going to fill a few trollies with them!
What we’ve decided is that we need to look at these TV dinners as one of our meals for each day and we are preparing for 20 days, so 40 meal! Ten different choices so four of the choice selection and a shared tin of vegetables a day which should stop us getting bored. We’ve also agreed we will have tins of sausage in beans as our breakfast and rough weather go to food as both of us will eat it cold straight from the tin if we have to. Snacks and tins of Fanta Orange should have covered the rest but we went mad and thought it might be nice to have Pate and Cheese as well as a tin of fruit cocktail each every day as a sugar boost when needed.
All in all we think we have done well with the food side of things and so for the rest of the day we have had a look around the area. There is a tower (La Seyne sur Mer Transporter Bridge) in the port area that Barry decided he needed to go up so in an almost gale off he went as I relaxed with a “bière pression” looking at the boats. This 44 meter high
tower used to be a bascule bridge that was completed in 1917 and served as railway access to the ship yards until 1986. It stood rotting for nearly 20 years until it was given another lease of life as a sightseeing platform allowing for an amazing panoramic view of the whole area.
On the way back to the boat we topped up with water and fuel, so we are all but ready for the “splash and dash” tomorrow!
